How the New HP ePrinters Work
Printing direct to Grandma's house
You may have seen the (slightly creepy) commercial on TV with the baby whizzing down the road and through traffic in his walker. He ends his journey at Grandma's front door.

Watch the commercial on YouTube

The commercial is for HP's new line of printers that let you print remotely from mobile devices or any computer for that matter.

The idea is that you give Grandma one of the HP ePrinters and then you can send pictures to it while you are out and about with baby.

The technology involved in sending a photo directly to the ePrinter is actually very simple. You create an email address for the printer and then email pictures to that address. Since nearly every mobile phone lets you email photos taken with the phone's camera, the process is nearly seamless.

From what I can tell, when the ePrinter receives a photo it prints it full page size. The question that comes to my mind is, with the high cost of ink jet cartridges, does Grandma really want you sending her print jobs all day? She might be happier if you sent the photos to her email inbox instead and then she can print out the ones she wants.
