I just can't help myself. I won't delete photos from iPhoto no matter how bad they are.
This habit is further exacerbated by the fact that when I take photos I usually take 4 or 5 pix of the same shot to make sure I get a good one.
So here is what I end up with in iPhoto– my Events are full of series of near identical photos. If I had a bit of sense I'd delete the ones that are aren't the perfect shot, but I keep on believing that on day I'll decide that one of the other shots will be the one I want. So, instead of deleting the near-identical photos, I hide them.
Hiding photos in your iPhoto Library is easy. Just select the photo or photos you want to hide and click the X icon on the bottom tool bar. The hidden photos will appear to disappear from your Library.
If you want to see your hidden photos, go to View / Hidden Photos on the Menu Bar. If you want to unhide a photo, select it and click on the X icon on the bottom toolbar.
By the way, hiding photos doesn't just work in Events, but anywhere in iPhoto that you have lists of photos.
