As you know the search box in Safari uses Google to perform its searches. But did you know that Google has many different kinds of special searches that you can enter into the search field?

Here are some of the special searches Google can do:
  • Reverse phone lookup. Enter a phone number and Google will give you the name and address associated with that phone number.
  • Weather. Type "Weather" and your zip code for the forecast for your area.
  • Dictionary lookups. Type "Define" and a word to get a comprehensive set of definitions for the word.
  • Street maps. Type in an address to get a map of the area.
  • Image search. Type "Image" and an item to get images of that item.
  • Tracking numbers. Type in the tracking number from UPS, FedEx or the USPS and get package tracking information.
Here is a long list of other special Google searches.

All of these special searches can be done from Google's home page as well as in any other browser that has a Google search field.
