Dropping Text on the Dock for Fast Results

If you are looking at a web page in Safari and find some text you want to email to a friend, you can copy the text and paste it into a new email message. While copy and paste work fine, there's a quicker way

Simply highlight the text you want to share and drag-and-drop it right on the Mail icon in the Dock. A new mail message will open with the dragged text already in it.

This trick isn't just limited to Safari and Mail. You can drag text from many (but not all) applications to the Dock icon of another application to have the dragged-to application act on it. For example:
