You aren't limited to the standard six colors
Choosing the calendar color

When you create a new calendar in iCal, it is automatically given one of six colors. Events show up on your calendar in the same color as the calendar name. You can easily change the color of the calendar.

  1. Right-click the Calendar you want to change from the left pane.
  2. Choose Get Info. This drops down a panel that allows you to edit the calendar info.
  3. To the right of the calendar name is a drop down that shows the color options for the calendar. Select one of the standard colors or choose Other... If you choose Other... the Color Picker appears and you can select the color you want. (The easiest way to use the Color Picker is to select the crayon box.)
Read a case study of an interesting use of multiple calendars.
