In this Tip, I continue to discuss the new features of Safari 5. Apple has implemented what it calls the Smart Address Bar. I would call it a "Smarter" Address Bar since it adds new features to Safari but still doesn't offer the functionality of some other browsers such as Firefox.
With the Smart Address Bar, you can type in the beginning of a website address and Safari will search both your Bookmarks and your History for a match. (Safari 4 only looked for matches in your Bookmarks.) In addition, the Smart Address Bar will search through the titles of the sites in your History and look for matches there.
Safari 5 will drop down a list of suggestions organized by the Top Hit, History and Bookmarks. If you still don't see what you are looking for, the bottom option will search through all the text on the pages of your History. The results of the History text search are shown in Cover Flow view where you can scroll through thumbnails of the found pages in the hopes that a snapshot of the page will trigger your memory and recognize the site you are looking for.
